Nobody can be compared to the Lord. He is beyond our imagination.
Scripture reading
Psalm 113
This call to worship1 invites us to lift our voices. It helps us remember how big God is and how close He comes to us.
Praise the Lord! Yes, give praise, O servants of the Lord. Praise the name of the Lord! Blessed be the name of the Lord now and forever. Everywhere—from east to west— praise the name of the Lord. For the Lord is high above the nations; his glory is higher than the heavens. Who can be compared with the Lord our God, who is enthroned on high? He stoops to look down on heaven and on earth. He lifts the poor from the dust and the needy from the garbage dump. He sets them among princes, even the princes of His own people! He gives the childless woman a family, making her a happy mother. Praise the Lord!
Prayer
Creator of the universe, You are from everlasting to everlasting; You are The Lord. Nobody can be compared to You; You are beyond our imagination. And yet we have assembled to again imagine Your kingdom together. You are God of Life. You refuse to leave those in need. You give the poor a place of dignity. You make a home for the homeless. You bring joy to families and communities. Teach us again today to help those that are afflicted, to support the weak, to provide for widows and orphans and strangers and to help those that are in need. Use our hands to serve those in need, use our voice to speak words of healing to those who are afflicted and in distress. In the name of Jesus, Amen
