Themes
Seeing Jesus • Jesus reveals all of the Father • Jesus meets with us
If we need a revelation from God, we simply need only to see more of Jesus. Sometimes, we cry out for God and want Him to break into our lives and interact with us. Any possibility of seeing Him is already right here, in the fellowship of His gathered people, because that’s where Jesus meets with us, and so it is there that we experience God. In seeing Jesus, we see God.
Scripture reading
John 14:7
This call to worship1 are words that Jesus spoke to his disciples to comfort them in his last hours.
If you have come to know me, you will come to know my Father as well. In fact, from now on you do know him; you have even seen him.
Prayer
Almighty God, Father in heaven, it seems that to know Jesus is to know you. He is the way. He is the truth. He is the life. And he is also the one who so completely embodies all of you to us. Father, if we need a revelation from you this morning, we simply need only to see more of Jesus. Sometimes we cry out for you and we want you to break into our lives and interact with us. And yet, here with us this morning is your only son, Jesus — here in our midst. And he reveals to us all of you. Father, any possibility of seeing you is already right here, this morning, in the fellowship of your gathered people, because Jesus meets with us here, and so here we experience you. In seeing Jesus, Father, we see you. Millions across this earth, long for a religious experience, a special visionary experience, with you. Nothing greater can be desired than a vision of you, the true God, the Creator, our maker. And yet, here we are, in Beaverdam, Michigan, content to be with Jesus, who is here, because in him we see all of you. Apart from him there is no knowledge of you. All we can know of you is here with us this morning. Father, as we encounter Jesus Christ this morning, may every question we still have of you reach its goal. In the name of Jesus, who shows us all of you, and everything we need, Amen
