Jesus Christ is the epitome of satisfaction. How do we know? Because the Father has been delighting in Him for eternity. And if He finds Him that satisfying, we most certainly would.
The fact that the Father’s unending delight in the Son has already spanned an eternity assures us that we certainly can’t exhaust the depths of knowing and loving and delighting and sharing Christ. He is The Wellspring of Joy. He is The Fountain of Contentment. Only He can satisfy the deepest longings of our hearts. And do so forever.
So go for it. Go ahead. Attempt to comprehend the Father’s love for the Son, the extent of His delight, the magnitude of His enjoyment. This crazy love is extended to us through Christ. The joy the Father finds in the Son is a joy we are invited to share in. So share in it.
Every encounter we have with Jesus offers us untapped depths of love to discover, uncharted realms of affection to explore, novel levels of intimacy to reach. When we turn to Him, we find that He is overwhelmingly sufficient for every aspect of our lives. In our struggles. In our triumphs. In our humdrum. Jesus is our constant source of strength and satisfaction.
He is an eternal adventure of discovery and delight.
Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” — John 4:13-14 You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand. — Psalm 16:11
This spiritual antipasto has an accompanying call to worship:
Jesus Christ is overwhelmingly all-sufficient and satisfying.
For eternity, the Father has never tired of Him, so how could we? We can’t possibly get to the end of thinking, knowing, enjoying, and sharing with others all there is to think, know, enjoy, and share about Him.
